Tele-Health
Tele-Health uses online video chat technology to allow doctors to see patients remotely in certain circumstances without an office visit. This technology is HIPPA-compliant to ensure patient privacy.
Due to the Coronavirus/COVID-19 pandemic, Dr. Birdsong will now be conducting ALL appointments via Tele-Health until further notice.
If you had a previously scheduled in-office appointment, it will now be a Tele-Health (online video chat) appointment.
What to expect
We will try to make our video chats as similar as possible to a regular office visit. All you need is a smartphone with texting ability, a camera, and a microphone (which almost all smartphones have). If you do not text or have a smart phone with these capabilities, please contact our office as soon as possible (910.763.3034). We may be able to make other arrangements (using email and/or a laptop).
Thanks for your consideration and patience during this trying time.

- Prior to your appointment, you must:
- RETURNING Patients: Print, read, and sign the Consent for Tele-Health form and Tele-Health Appointment form and have them with you at your video chat appointment.
- NEW Patients (with an existing appointment): please visit our New Patient Forms page and complete and submit the required forms and images before your appointment (you can not be seen unless these have been received).
- Review these instructions on how to use the video chat and make sure you have a quiet, comfortable, and private space (with good internet-access) to conduct the video chat. This location must be in the state of North Carolina. You should also review our Tele-Health FAQ (frequently asked questions) page prior to your first video chat.
- At or near your appointment time, you will receive a text (or email) when Dr. Birdsong is ready to see you (this may come from an unfamiliar number and you may receive it up to 10-15 minutes after your designated appointment time, depending on the wait). This message will contain a link to the video chat (you have 10 minutes to click this link).
- Once the chat starts, Dr. Birdsong will ask returning patients to hold up your signed Consent to Tele-Heath and Tele-Health Appointment forms to the camera (new patients must submit all forms ahead of time). The video chat will then proceed as an office visit would.
- At the end of the session, Dr. Birdsong will obtain payment by credit card and schedule a follow up. If you do not have a credit card, she will discuss payment further with you.
Thanks for your consideration and patience during this trying time.
